Tree Damage From The Storm? Here Are Some Helpful Tips!If you have tree damage and are wondering what to do, here are some helpful tips as you assess some of the damage.
Boulevard or Park Tree Damage
Residents that notice damage to a City tree (boulevard tree or in parks) should report it to Forestry by calling 218.299.5422 Option 4.
Branches and Private Tree Damage
Residents that experience damage to private trees can utilize the brush pickup program for smaller branches. Branches will be picked up on their recycling day. Branches are limited to 8 inches in diameter and a pile size of 4’x8’x12’.
Residents that have larger damage can haul and dispose of branches and wood debris at the Compost Site.

- Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:15 pm
- Saturday 8:00 am to 11:45 am
Residents that have damage to a private tree but are unable to remove the tree themselves should seek a licensed contractor to perform the work.

Romkey Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, June 29!Join the City of Moorhead at the Romkey Park Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Celebration on Monday, June 29 at noon.
This event marks the official opening of the revitalized park, featuring a wide range of new amenities including the Municipal Pool, created to enhance the experience for families and visitors throughout the community.
The ceremony will include brief remarks, a ribbon cutting, and the unveiling of new features across the park and pool area.
Following the ceremony, guests are welcome to enjoy free food, activities, and family friendly entertainment, as well as complimentary pool admission from 12:30–1:30 pm in recognition of this special occasion!

Service Alert: Independence Day Schedule ChangesImportant service impacts:
- City of Moorhead offices will be closed for Independence Day on Friday, July 3.
- Garbage/Recycling: Friday (July 3) garbage and recycling routes will be collected on Thursday. All routes on Monday – Thursday will be collected on their regularly scheduled day. Please be aware the shift in route schedules may cause early or delayed collection this week; set your trash out by 4:00 am to ensure it is collected.
- MATBUS: MATBUS and MAT Paratransit service will have normal operations on Friday, July 3. There will be no services on Saturday, July 4. The Ground Transportation Center will be closed on Saturday, July 3.

First Congregational United Church of Christ Team Honored with MoorHeart AwardCongratulations to the First Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC) team! On Monday, June 22, the Moorhead City Council and Mayor Shelly Carlson honored them with the MoorHeart award.
The MoorHeart selection committee chose to recognize UCC for their efforts to provide services and make connections with the homeless community in Moorhead. These efforts include donating food from their community garden, working with service providers in the community and providing compassion through their fellowship. Through these efforts, the UCC stands out as a beacon of hope throughout Moorhead.
CAPLP Homeless Outreach wrote in the nomination: “They are a small but mighty crew showing everyone around them that we can all lend a hand to our neighbors in need.”
The City of Moorhead thanks the First Congregational United Church of Christ for their dedication to making sure all residents have caring support. Their dedication to improving the lives of those in need makes Moorhead a better place. Thank you, First Congregational United Church of Christ!

Traffic Alert: Portions of 40 Ave S Closed Starting Tuesday, June 9Starting Tuesday, June 9 at 9am, 40 Ave S will be closed for a City roadway construction project from 9 St S through 11 St S, and from 16 St S to 20 St S. A portion of 14 St S from 40 Ave S to 41 Ave S will also be closed. During this time, a detour route utilizing 30 Ave S, 8 St S & 20 St S will be implemented. This phase of the project is anticipated to take 6 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes and expect delays and congestion in the area.

Moorhead Municipal Pool & New Splash Pad Open Today, June 4!The City of Moorhead is excited to announce that the Moorhead Municipal Pool, including a brand-new splash pad, opens for the season today, Thursday, June 4, at 12:30 pm!
As part of the Reimagine Romkey improvements, visitors will enjoy new amenities throughout the pool designed to create a more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable experience for all ages. From expanded recreation features to added comfort and convenience, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
In partnership with Essentia Health, free towels will be available for swimmers while supplies last.
Our updated aquatics facility includes a lap pool with slides, a climbing wall, and a diving board, a zero-depth wading pool, a party rental room, and a new splash pad located outside the pool fence, free for public use.
A few reminders for a safe and fun visit:
- Children 10 and under must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
- Riders must be 48" tall to use the slides.
- A swim test is required for the diving board and climbing wall.
- No flotation devices are allowed.
- Complimentary lockers are available. Please bring a lock or purchase one at the front desk.
- Concessions are available on site. No outside food or beverages are permitted.
Pool hours are 12:30 – 4:30 pm and 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
