Tim Johnson Honored with MoorHeart Award!

Congratulations to Tim Johnson, executive director of the FM Kicks Band! On Monday, July 27, the Moorhead City Council and Mayor Shelly Carlson presented him with the MoorHeart award.

Tim has spent countless hours over the past 10 years bringing the joy of jazz through his organization and promotion of the FM Kicks Band while also playing for thousands of local jazz fans. Efforts throughout the years include grant writing, fundraising, purchasing music, recruiting, arranging, and directing the band, performing for residents and students, coordinating The Summer Youth Jazz Camp and so much more.

From the nomination, “Although his position is part-time, Tim devotes many hours to ensure that Moorhead can boast a vibrant jazz scene.”

The City of Moorhead thanks Tim Johnson for his dedication to ensuring that jazz has a place in Moorhead. His dedication to the art of jazz makes Moorhead a better place. Thank you, Tim Johnson!

The MoorHeart award is commemorated with a piece of art commissioned from local artist, Dennis Krull, especially for this purpose.
