    Center Ave Businesses Host Tour De Cones

    As construction gets underway on Center Ave, local businesses are teaming up to support one another through Tour De Cones, a rotating series of weekly specials and activities. Each featured business will offer deals or host activities during its spotlight week, helping keep the corridor vibrant during construction.

    • July 20-25: Historic Moorhead Dairy Queen
    • July 27-August 1: Absolute Style Boutique
    • August 3-8: Swing Barrel Brewing Co.

    • August 17-22: Swing Barrel, Armory Annex, Armory Event Center & Urban Foods Catering
    • August 24-29: Mick’s Office
    • TBD: Celebratory Block Party

    About the project: The Center Ave project will include removing and replacing pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalks. To help accelerate construction, Center Ave will be closed for the duration of the project. Access to nearby businesses will remain available through adjacent parking areas. Construction is anticipated to take up to 90 days, and the contract includes early‑completion incentives for opening portions of the roadway ahead of schedule.

    The City is coordinating regular meetings with business and property owners along the corridor to share updates.

    This project is funded by State and local dollars, and no special assessments will be applied.

    MnDOT update: Portion of 11 St to close week of May 4 for finishing work
    Heads up, Moorhead! During the week of May 4, lasting for about a week, there will be an additional closure on 11 St between 1 Ave N and 2 Ave N. Crews will be completing some sidewalk work in that block just north of 1 Ave. Please follow the signed detour. 
    Once they finish there, the crews will begin doing some finishing touches along First Avenue North, too! Motorists can expect to encounter a lane closure on 1 Ave N during that time.
    Construction progress on 11 St Underpass
    Progress has continued this spring on the project's excavations and retaining walls in Stage 3 on Center Ave and 11 St. That work remains the primary focus, as crews construct, pour and wait for curing on the retaining walls. They'll soon begin the final connection of the underground utilities as well, and then will start grading the new roadway underneath the underpass bridges on 11 St and rebuilding Center Ave.
    As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding as the project progresses. We are still on schedule for completion in Fall 2026!

    City invites public feedback on 1 Ave N Study

    The City of Moorhead is evaluating improvement options for 1 Ave N from 12 St to Center Avenue (Hwy 10) in Moorhead. Ongoing redevelopment, revitalization, and deteriorating pavement conditions along the corridor has prompted an evaluation of the corridor for future reconstruction.

    The project will evaluate current and future conditions and utilize public feedback to develop corridor concepts for future implementation. Public feedback is being collected through a project website to gather information on topics such as safety, pedestrian/mobility access, pavement conditions, and business access.  

    The current construction timeline is tentatively planned for 2027 or 2028.
