The 2020 Downtown Moorhead Master Plan identifies 3 distinct districts that capture the authentic character of Moorhead’s Downtown. Each has their own unique vibe, including a range of housing opportunities and places where residents and visitors can shop, recreate, and connect.

The Loop District. [link to Loop District page] The heart of Moorhead, this area is well-positioned to be an important gateway to the community, to the river corridor, and to the public spaces that draw people together. A bold redevelopment plan supports a walkable environment with urban amenities that will become a regional draw. Anchored by The Loop | Moorhead Public Library, this District is on its way to becoming an amazing place to live, to work, and to invest.

Creative Pioneers District. [link to page with pics and highlights] This area supports Moorhead’s creative energy by encouraging artistic and innovative activities alongside residential and commercial uses. Anchored by Junkyard Brewing, the Creative Pioneers District is ever-evolving as a truly unique Moorhead neighborhood.

Downtown Mixed Use District. [link to page with pics and highlights] This walkable neighborhood evokes the look and feel of original Moorhead. A traditional compact street connects a mix of owner-occupied and renter-occupied homes, with a host of small businesses and civic spaces. Anchored by the Rourke Art Museum and the iconic Moorhead Dairy Queen, this neighborhood is central to Moorhead’s identity.
