Sydni Kreps Honored with MoorHeart Award!

Sydni Kreps, owner of More than Words Bookstore, helped to organize a fundraiser when funding for food assistance programs was interrupted in November of 2025. This successful fundraiser raised over $3,000, with all the proceeds going to local hunger relief efforts when it was needed most.

Samantha Gust wrote in the nomination: “This action demonstrates a local business using its platform to meet community needs in a tangible way. The fundraiser was impactful and focused on supporting residents who rely on consistent access to food.”

The City of Moorhead thanks Sydni for her contribution to Moorhead. Her dedication and motivation to improving the lives of others make Moorhead a better and supportive place. Thank you, Sydni!

The MoorHeart award recognizes individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to demonstrate community within our City by their actions and service. A team of volunteers from City boards and commissions selects award recipients who are recognized at City Council meetings. The MoorHeart selection committee chose to recognize Sydni Kreps for her meaningful work advocating and fundraising to address food security in Moorhead.

The MoorHeart award is commemorated with a piece of art commissioned from local artist, Dennis Krull especially for this purpose.

As you learn of others in our community doing great things, large and small, please consider submitting a nomination. Information on nominating others for MoorHeart consideration is found at our Awards and Recognition page of the website.
