Moorhead Wading Pools to Open Tuesday, June 2, Municipal Pool and Splash Pad to Open Thursday, June 4, Romkey Park Grand Opening on June 29

The City of Moorhead is excited to announce that the Moorhead Municipal Pool, including its brand-new splash pad will officially open for the season on Thursday, June 4 at 12:30 pm.

The City has also made improvements to wading pools across the community. These improvements needed to undergo inspections for safety purposes and we are happy to announce that they have passed. Wading pools will open tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2.

Reimagine Romkey includes new amenities throughout the park and pool area designed to create a more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages. From expanded recreation features to added comfort and convenience, the area offers something for everyone.

While the pool and splash pad will open on June 4, the official ribbon cutting and grand celebration for the entire park will take place on Monday, June 29 at noon. This later date allows time for newly planted grass to establish, ensuring the park looks its best for the community celebration. The grand opening event will include free food, activities, and family-friendly fun as we officially commemorate the completion of the new park amenities. To celebrate the ribbon cutting, admission to the pool will be free for the first hour, from 12:30–1:30 pm, giving families the perfect chance to enjoy the refreshed space and explore all the fun the surrounding park has to offer.

In addition, thanks to the generous support of Essentia Health, the community can enjoy a Free Day at the Pool on Friday, June 26.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the community back to Romkey Park with a refreshed Municipal Pool and new amenities,” said Mayor Shelly Carlson “These improvements were designed to enhance the experience for families and visitors, and we can’t wait for everyone to enjoy them this summer.

The new park design will include a 25‑meter pool with a diving well and slides, a zero‑depth entry wading pool, and a splash pad located outside the pool fence for free public use. It will also feature a recreation center and pool building, a skate park, a playground, pickleball courts, a soccer field, basketball courts, a natural playground, a food forest, and a sledding hill.
