Daniel Garbow Arrested in Connection to September 1 Shooting Incident
On the evening of September 13, 2026, Moorhead Police officers arrested 39-year-old Daniel Garbow at an apartment in the 400 block of Sunrise Circle in Moorhead. Officers executed a knock-and-announce search warrant as part of the ongoing investigation into Garbow’s alleged involvement in the September 1, 2026, shooting incident in south Moorhead.
The Moorhead Police Department requested assistance from the Grand Forks Regional SWAT team to ensure the safe execution of the operation due to the risk level and safety concerns connected to Garbow. Their support allowed officers to take Garbow into custody without incident. The Grand Forks Regional SWAT team responded because they were providing coverage for the Red River Regional SWAT team, who has their annual training this week and were unavailable. This pre-arranged coverage from Grand Forks Regional SWAT was planned and authorized by the Red River Regional SWAT operating board.
“I want to thank the Grand Forks Regional SWAT team for their prompt and professional response,” Moorhead Police Department Chief Helmick said. “We appreciate their willingness to step in and support our officers; their involvement helped ensure everyone went home safely.”
The investigation into the September 1 shooting remains active; there is no additional releasable information at this time.
