Annual Siren System Maintenance Occurring Today in Moorhead

Midstates Wireless is conducting annual maintenance on the City of Moorhead’s outdoor warning sirens today, Tuesday, September 15. This scheduled work ensures the system remains in proper working order for use during emergencies, including severe weather events.

During the maintenance period, technicians may be seen working at ground level within the siren control boxes. Sirens may rotate without producing sound as part of routine testing procedures. In addition, brief “growl tests” may occur. A growl test involves a short activation in which the siren begins to produce noise but does not reach full volume and then gradually winds down over approximately 10 seconds. These actions are standard components of the maintenance process and do not indicate any emergency situation.

Residents may notice movement or limited sound from the sirens throughout the day. All activity is part of planned maintenance, and no public action is required.
