Matson Field Upgrade Project
Matson Field has served as Moorhead’s home for youth, American Legion, and amateur baseball since 1959. After decades of use, the facility is showing its age, but thanks to community support, major progress is already underway. Phase I improvements are complete, including a new monument sign, a rebuilt grandstand, an updated press box, and a new scoreboard and sound system. These upgrades mark the beginning of a renewed future for one of Moorhead’s most beloved athletic spaces.
We are now moving into Phase II, and we need the community’s help to bring it to life. This next phase will add essential amenities: concessions, restrooms, sunshades, an entry gate, and a viewing deck to create a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for players, families, and visitors. The City of Moorhead and Matson Field will play host to the 2028 and 2029 State Legion Baseball tournaments. These improvements will strengthen Matson Field’s role as the region’s top destination for youth and amateur baseball and will help Moorhead host more future league play and tournaments, generating positive economic impact for local businesses
Your support helps preserve the history of Matson Field while building a facility that future generations can be proud of. Together, we can complete this transformation and keep baseball thriving in Moorhead.
