Parks and Recreation Planning
Community Capital Improvement Projects:
The City of Moorhead, in their Strategic Planning Process, identified and prioritized six community initiatives in Moorhead as the focus for fundraising and implementation. These projects include:
Matson Field/Moorhead Baseball Improvements
Matson Field serves ages youth to amateur teams and needs a grandstand for visitors to the facility. Improvements are to include the grandstand, press box, new concession and bathroom areas, scoreboard, and much more.
Estimated project cost is $2 million. To date, over $1.1 million has been raised. For more information, and to donate, visit the Moorhead Community Fund page.
River Corridor Improvements
Since approval of the River Corridor Plan, there have been numerous projects that have been completed or are underway along the River Corridor. For specific details of the Projects, Partnerships, Grants/ Funding Sources, Trail Maps and Programs, visit the Red River Corridor Trail page.
Dog Park Amenities
The City has two off-leash dog parks, one at River Oaks Park and one on 15 Ave N in the Centennial Athletic Complex. Both need amenities that would enhance the park for users, such as benches, trees, agility equipment, signage, additional lighting for winter months, etc. Total project cost for the added amenities would be $25,000 for each location.
