Boards and Commissions

The Mayor and City Council appoint a number of citizens each year to boards and commissions as allowed by the City Charter. These bodies serve as advisory groups to the Mayor and City Council and offer advice and guidance on important policy decisions for the City. Volunteer for Boards and Commissions

The Mayor and Council are always looking for individuals to serve as members on active boards and commissions. Applications are accepted year-round and will remain on file for two years after receipt. If you are interested in serving, please submit the Application for Appointment Form or contact the City Clerk's Office.

Standards for Public Participation and Comment

The City’s boards and commissions operate under the following standards related to attendance and participation: 

Public attendance. Public seating during meetings is available on a first-come, first-seated basis. 

• Options for citizens to comment

  • Citizens may speak under the “Citizens to Be Heard” item of an agenda; they will have up to three minutes to address the board/commission unless the chair grants additional time.

  • Citizens can make verbal or written comments before the meeting. Written comments can be emailed to the assigned Staff Liaison or mailed to 403 Center Ave, Moorhead, MN 56561-0779. Verbal comments will be accepted by calling the assigned Staff Liaison. Comments must be received at least one business day before the meeting. A staff member may provide a summary of the comments to the board/commission.

  • Citizens may comment during a meeting by phone by making arrangements with the assigned Staff Liaison at least one business day before the meeting. These individuals will be given information to call and be connected during the meeting. They will have up to three minutes to address the board/commission.

Meetings will be live streamed to the City's YouTube Channel and on-air on Moorhead Community Access Media (MCAM), Midco Channel 12, or CableOne Channel 58.
