Do I need Zoning Review for Home Improvements?
If your proposed project is related to property improvement, new residential construction or operating a business from your home, then a zoning review is required.
Contact Planning & Zoning to request a One Stop Shop preliminary review of your proposed project. By providing preliminary information listed below, we will work with various City Departments to provide a detailed response to your proposal. Submit requests to Planning & Zoning (218.299.5370) and please allow at least 7 business days for a staff response.
- Proposed location (e.g., site address, parcel number, specific project area on property, etc.)
- Proposed project (e.g., build a deck, offer counseling services from home, etc.)
- Proposed preliminary plan for building, site improvement and/or business
- Exterior site improvements – like alterations to driveways, sidewalks or utilities (if applicable)
- Include any specific project details to improve preliminary review accuracy (e.g., anticipated size of proposed patio or house addition, list of services your home occupation would provide, etc)
