Our Annual Development Reports provide a snapshot of Moorhead’s growth and progress each year. These reports highlight key projects, economic trends, and community initiatives that shape the city’s future. They’re a great resource for understanding how Moorhead is evolving and where new opportunities are emerging.

The Downtown Moorhead Master Plan outlines a bold vision for creating a vibrant, connected, and thriving city center. This plan focuses on revitalizing public spaces, encouraging mixed-use development, and enhancing walkability to make downtown a destination for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. It serves as a roadmap for growth and investment that strengthens Moorhead’s identity and economic vitality.

The Onward Moorhead Comprehensive Plan is our community’s roadmap for the future—built around five Big Ideas that guide growth and development:

  • Transform Downtown Moorhead into the heart of the community.
  • Integrate a mix of land uses and experiences in redevelopment areas.
  • Connect neighborhoods to parks and trails with multimodal access.
  • Embrace resilient, environmental, and equitable solutions for sustainability.
  • Build and nurture local businesses as key partners in growth.

Together, these ideas shape a vibrant, connected, and inclusive Moorhead for generations to come.

MetroCOG’s Housing Needs Analysis and Strategies Report provides a regional approach to addressing housing challenges and opportunities. The report focuses on these key goals:

  • Promote regional coordination for housing strategies.
  • Educate city and county staff, elected officials, and residents on key housing challenges facing the region.
  • Help current residents stay, grow, and age in the region.
  • Create more opportunities for entry-level homeownership.
  • Accommodate new population and job growth by supporting more housing choices through different tenures and building types.

Together, these strategies aim to build a stronger, more inclusive housing market for the future.
