The Moorhead Police Department will host the 20th Annual Chiefs and Sheriffs Burger Cook-Off on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. at the Law Enforcement Center located at 911 11 St N in Moorhead. Participating agencies include Cass and Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Barnesville, Glyndon, Hawley, Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead Police Departments.
Contestants are tasked with making one burger to be judged on appearance and taste. Judging begins at approximately 11:45 am. This year’s judges include representatives from representatives from WDAY, The Flag, and Froggy 99.9 Radio. The winner of the “Best Burger” is selected and announced by 12 p.m. with a free luncheon to follow. Last year’s winning burger title went to Chief Justin Vogel of Glyndon Police Department in Minnesota.
“We're excited to host this year's cookoff between the police and sheriff departments. It's a great way to highlight the Night to Unite festivities in the metro,” said Moorhead Police Chief Chris Helmick.
Night to Unite, also known as National Night Out (NNO), is a nationwide celebration which takes place on the first Tuesday of August of every year. Night to Unite encourages neighborhoods to join the national celebration and participate in block parties, cookouts, or events to get to know one another and promote community safety.
